- No Truecaller account is required to do it.
It does not handle this
- Your number returning. Truecaller is populated from other people’s uploaded contact books, so a number can reappear after someone re-uploads theirs. Unlisting is a thing to re-check, not a thing you do once.
- Erasure of records already held about you. That is a separate written request, to the Resident Grievance Officer address above.
What we have not checked, and will not pretend to have. Truecaller’s domain refuses automated readers, so we have not read its privacy policy end to end and we make no claim on this page about what it does with your data. The grievance address and the entity details above were read in a real browser session on 12 August 2026. Absence of a finding here is our gap, not a clean bill of health.
The legal position, stated straight. The DPDP Act’s consent-withdrawal right in section 6(4) is not in force today — sections 3 to 17 are on a staged commencement running to 14 May 2027. A request sent now asks for voluntary compliance and puts the date on record, which is what any later escalation rests on. There is no 90-day statutory erasure deadline, and the ₹250 crore figure is the penalty for failing to secure data against a breach — not for ignoring your request.
