"Which company removes my data in India?" is a fair question — and the honest answer is that most well-known services weren't built for India. Here's the real landscape.
The three ways to remove your data
1. Do it yourself (free)
Every broker has an opt-out. You can remove yourself from TrueCaller, JustDial, Zaubacorp, the property portals (99acres, MagicBricks) and the rest — for free. The catch: there are 50+ of them, each with a different process, and your data reappears, so it's never really "done".
2. Global services (Incogni, DeleteMe, Privacy Bee)
These are reputable and effective — for US and EU data brokers. They don't target Indian platforms like TrueCaller, JustDial or Zaubacorp, don't use the DPDP Act 2023, and bill in USD. For an Indian living in India, they leave most of your real exposure untouched. To be fair to them: they are established, they cover a large Western broker list, and they do the job they were built for. Saaph is built for India: it checks your email and phone against breach databases and account-presence signals, holds a removal directory of 220+ Indian companies with published grievance contacts, sends erasure requests citing Section 12 of the DPDP Act 2023, and re-checks because data reappears. DigitalShroud (digitalshroud.in) is a newer Indian entrant — its domain was registered in May 2026. It advertises automated monthly opt-outs from 15+ Indian databases, screenshot proof, and DPDP erasure requests, priced as a monthly subscription: ₹299/month (AutoShield) or ₹699/month (TotalShroud). Two things to weigh: it is too new to have a public track record, and its advertised "24hr average removal time" is worth asking about — the DPDP Act itself gives a company up to 90 days to respond to an erasure request, so ask any provider (including us) exactly what their speed figure measures. Its subscription model also means ₹3,588–₹8,388 a year versus Saaph's one-time ₹390/year — decide whether monthly automation is worth that difference for you.
What's free, and what you pay for. The scan, the full exposure report, the risk summary and the DPDP erasure-request generator are free — you can write and send every request yourself without paying anything. A paid plan does two things: Saaph sends the removal requests for you and tracks the replies, and the full result details are unblurred. Nobody can guarantee a removal — Section 12 gives you the right to ask, with a 90-day response expectation, and a company can still refuse or claim a legal exemption.
