Website: log in to DigiLocker → click your profile photo → Manage your Account Settings → under Account Linked, click the bin icon next to the app. App: Home → My Consent → choose the app → Revoke. GATE applicants seeing the GOAPS "DigiLocker Drive access" error: revoke the GATE-2027 consent, then log in to GOAPS again and allow Drive access, without changing the consent validity date. Revoking stops future access; it does not delete what an app already took.
Every time a website or app asks to "fetch from DigiLocker", you give it a consent. DigiLocker says documents are shared only with your explicit consent, and that every sharing and access is logged and shown to you. Over time that list grows: a bank, an exam portal, an insurer, a job site. Here is how to see it and prune it.
1. See and revoke your DigiLocker consents
On the DigiLocker website
Log in at digilocker.gov.in. Click your profile photo (top right) and choose Manage your Account Settings. The Account Linked section lists the sites and apps you have given access to your DigiLocker data. Click the eye icon to see what an entry can access, and the bin icon to remove it.
In the DigiLocker app
On the home screen, under DigiLocker Utility, tap My Consent. Each entry shows the date and whether it is Active or Revoked. Tap one to see what it was given (for example issued documents such as PAN or driving licence, your email, address and profile picture), then tap Revoke.
If the app shows an error
IIT Madras's guide for GATE applicants says that if the app shows an "OOPS" error while revoking, do it on the DigiLocker website instead.
The same profile menu also has Activities, My Profile and Nominee. MeitY's National e-Governance Division says you can put a time limit on a consent, and that once you revoke one, the app's access stops and it cannot pull anything new.
2. The GATE GOAPS error: the official fix
GOAPS is the GATE Online Application Processing System, the portal for applying to GATE. For GATE 2027 it is run by IIT Madras at goaps.iitm.ac.in, and you sign in through DigiLocker. If GOAPS says you have not granted DigiLocker Drive access and asks you to revoke the existing GOAPS consent, IIT Madras's published fix is:

Website: profile photo → Manage your Account Settings → delete the GATE-2027 entry under Account Linked. App: My Consent → GATE-2027 → Revoke.
Log in to GOAPS again
Go to goaps.iitm.ac.in/login (IIT Madras suggests an Incognito/InPrivate window) and, on the consent screen, allow DigiLocker Drive access.
Don't change the validity date
If you edited the consent's validity period, that alone can cause the error. Revoke, then grant it again and leave the date as it is.
Two more points from the GATE 2027 website and guide: don't delete your DigiLocker account (verified or unverified) after applying, because future GATE communication is tied to the DigiLocker account you applied with; and if a problem isn't listed, call the GATE 2027 helpdesk on 044-22578200.
3. What revoking does, and doesn't, do

To get a copy deleted, ask the organisation that holds it. The DPDP Act 2023 gives you a right to withdraw consent (section 6(4)) and to ask for erasure (section 12), and after withdrawal a company must stop processing within a reasonable time unless a law requires it to keep the data. Those rights become enforceable on 14 May 2027; until then you rely on the company's own privacy policy, and a dated written request puts the date on record.
4. Consents you've given banks, lenders and insurers
Account Aggregator consents
If a lender or app read your bank statements through an Account Aggregator, open that Account Aggregator's app. Sahamati, the industry body, says the AA app shows every consent you've given, the ones you've revoked and a log of each data request, and that every AA consent can be revoked there.
Your bank (Axis Bank as an example)
Axis Bank's website links a Digital Banking Consent page (application.axis.bank.in) where you enter your Customer ID, manage consent and confirm by OTP. To withdraw consent for processing or sharing your data, its privacy policy says to email email.services@axis.bank.in from your registered email. The bank says it updates its records within 90 days, may keep some data to meet legal and regulatory duties, and that withdrawing may affect some services. Open the bank's site yourself rather than a link in a message.
Any other company
