Deleting your Naukri account only removes what Naukri still controls. Three kinds of copy survive it: cached search results pointing at your old profile page, resumes recruiters already downloaded into their own databases, and partner or aggregator job sites that republished the listing. So treat it as two jobs — delete the account properly, then send a Section 12 (DPDP Act 2023) erasure request to each place that kept a copy.
Naukri's own help pages tell you how to delete your Naukri account, and that part works. What they don't cover is the thing people actually search for a month later: the account is gone, and the recruiter calls haven't stopped. If what you set out to do was remove your resume from Naukri — not just close a login — then deleting the account is only the first half of the job. Your resume is a file. Files get copied, and a copy that has already left Naukri's servers is beyond Naukri's reach, whatever you do inside your settings.
Why your resume outlives the account
Three kinds of copy survive the deletion — and there's a fourth thing people forget entirely:
- Search engines cached the page. If your profile page was ever crawled, the entry sits in the index until the crawler comes back and finds nothing there. The page is dead; the snippet with your name on it isn't, yet.
- Recruiters downloaded your resume. This is the one that keeps ringing your phone. A recruiter on a paid database seat can pull your resume into their own applicant-tracking system. That file now belongs to their company — a separate organisation, with its own copy of your salary history and your number.
- Aggregators and partner boards republished it. Job content gets syndicated and scraped. A listing or profile can end up mirrored on smaller boards that never heard about your deletion and have no reason to check.
- A sibling site in the same group may still hold you. Naukri's parent, Info Edge, also runs 99acres and Jeevansathi. Deleting one account does nothing to the others — if you ever signed up, name each site explicitly in the same erasure request instead of filing three.
Step one — delete what Naukri still controls
Take stock before you delete
Deletion is irreversible and it takes your account view away with it. First: save the resume file you uploaded, note the exact email address and phone number the account used, and screenshot whatever your account shows you about recruiter activity. You'll need those details to write an erasure request later — and to recognise who's calling you.
Decide: hide, or delete
If the problem is only recruiter spam and you may job-hunt again, hiding is the lighter fix. In Settings → Profile visibility, set it to private so your profile isn't searchable and recruiters can't pull your phone number and salary. Your data stays with Naukri, but it stops circulating. Choose deletion only if you want the profile gone for good — to delete your Naukri profile you delete the account, and that takes the profile down with it.

The delete option is buried: Settings → Communication & Privacy → "Not looking for a job change" → Read More → Delete Account. It cannot be undone, and the same email address may be blocked from opening a new account later. Expect recruiter mail to taper off over the following days rather than stop the same hour.
Step two — chase the copies that outlived it
Clear the stale search result

Go after the recruiters who already have it
No setting on Naukri touches this copy. Each company holding your downloaded resume is its own Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act 2023, and owes you the same Section 12 right to erasure. Ask Naukri — and its group sites — in writing
Deleting through the interface and being erased from every system are not the same claim. Send a Section 12 erasure request naming your data (name, email, phone, resume, work history) and asking for written confirmation. Send it to the grievance contact published in Naukri's privacy policy — look it up, don't guess an address, because a legal notice sent to an address that doesn't exist just bounces into a void. Be straight about what the law gets you. Section 12 of the DPDP Act 2023 gives you the right to ask for erasure, and companies are expected to respond within 90 days. That is leverage, not a guarantee — a company can lawfully keep data it is legally required to retain, and some simply won't reply. How do I remove my resume from Naukri?

Because the recruiters calling you downloaded your resume before you deleted it. That copy sits in their own company's database, not Naukri's, so deleting your Naukri account does not reach it.
