To delete your Bharat Taxi account, ask the operator, Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. Its privacy policy says a deletion request is processed within seven days, though some data can be kept where the law requires it. We could not confirm an in-app menu path, so check the app first, then email the grievance officer at admin@bharattaxiapp.com.
Before you ask: clear any unpaid fare or open complaint, and save receipts you need. The policy says it can keep data tied to an outstanding credit or an unresolved dispute, and that receipts are deleted with the account.
Uninstalling is not deleting. The app leaves your phone; your profile, ride history and saved addresses stay with the operator until you ask.
Bharat Taxi is new, it grew fast, and it asks for the things every ride app asks for: your phone number, your location and where you go. Its Google Play listing showed 10 lakh+ downloads when we checked on 16 September 2026. There is no help-centre article on deleting an account yet, which is why this guide exists. Everything below comes from the operator's own privacy policy, its app store listings and the government's launch release. Where we could not check something, we say so.
Who actually runs Bharat Taxi
The Press Information Bureau describes Bharat Taxi as an initiative of Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, a multi-state cooperative society, launched with support from the Ministry of Cooperation (PIB, 14 January 2026). That matters for deletion because the cooperative is the company that holds your data, so it is the one you write to.
- Android: the Google Play app Bharat Taxi - Cab, Auto & Bike is published by SAHAKAR TAXI COOPERATIVE LIMITED, and its privacy-policy link goes to bharattaxiapp.com.
- iPhone: the App Store listing Bharat Taxi - Ride Booking App shows the seller as Moving Tech Innovations Private Limited. It uses the same app identifier as the Android app and links to the same bharattaxiapp.com privacy policy, which names the cooperative as the owner.
Watch out for the lookalike. bharattaxi.com (no "app" in the name) belongs to a different company, Insperon Technologies, with its own "Bharat Taxi" app, its own policy and its own contact addresses. If you used the government-backed cooperative app, don't send your deletion request there. Use the contacts on bharattaxiapp.com. The same trap catches devotional apps: two Play listings are titled “Sanatan App”, one with 10M+ installs and one with 100+, and each has its own deletion contact.
What a Bharat Taxi account holds about you
The privacy policy lists what it collects. For a rider, that is more than a name and a number:
- Profile: name, contact number, email, address, profile picture and UPI ID.
- Location: precise or approximate location from your device, plus your recent location searches.
- Ride data: ride history, saved addresses and favourites.
- Communications: time and date of calls, call recordings, and the content of texts and in-app messages between riders and drivers.
- Device data: device model, IP address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, motion data and mobile network data.
The policy also says drivers see your first name, rating and pickup and drop locations, and that data is shared with cloud providers, payment processors and analytics providers.
How to delete your Bharat Taxi account
Settle anything still open
Clear any unpaid fare, and close any refund or complaint you still want resolved. The policy says data can be kept because of an outstanding credit or an unresolved claim or dispute, so an open item gives the operator a reason to hold on to your account. Save any ride receipts you need for expenses first: the policy says driver receipts are deleted with the account.
Look for a delete option in the app
Google Play requires apps that let you create an account to offer account deletion inside the app, and the Bharat Taxi listing says you can request that data be deleted. We could not confirm where the option sits in the current rider app, so we won't guess a menu path. Check your profile and settings screens. If you find it, use it and screenshot the confirmation. If not, go to step 3.
Email the grievance officer
The privacy policy names a Grievance Officer, Gautam Ganguly, Zonal Head, at admin@bharattaxiapp.com (phone +91 9211340085). The site footer also lists grievance@bharattaxiapp.com for grievances, so you can send your email to both. Send it from the email on your account and include:
- your name and the mobile number you signed up with;
- a clear request: delete my Bharat Taxi rider account and the personal data linked to it;
- a request to confirm in writing when it's done, and to tell you what they keep and why.
Our free DPDP notice generator drafts this from a short form. You send it from your own inbox.
Switch off location, then uninstall
Once you have asked, turn off the app's location permission in your phone settings and uninstall it. Uninstalling doesn't delete your account, but it stops the app collecting anything new while the request is processed.
Follow up after seven days
The policy says a deletion request is processed within seven days. If you haven't heard back by then, reply on the same email thread and quote the policy's own seven-day line. Keep the thread. It is your record of when you asked.
What Bharat Taxi can keep after you delete
The policy says deletion is permanent and irreversible, and also that it may keep data after a deletion request for:
- legal or regulatory requirements;
- safety, security and fraud prevention;
- an outstanding credit or an unresolved claim or dispute on your account.
It doesn't give a fixed retention period. It says data is kept for as long as is permissible under Applicable Law. So asking in writing what they keep, and why, is a fair question.
What the law gets you, honestly. Section 12 of the DPDP Act 2023 gives you a right to have your personal data erased. The DPDP Rules 2025 bring the Act in over eighteen months, and that right becomes enforceable in May 2027. Until then there is no legal deadline for a company to act on it. Bharat Taxi's own policy already promises deletion within seven days, and a dated written request is what any later complaint would rest on. What to do if a company ignores you →

Not yet. Section 12 of the DPDP Act 2023 gives you a right to erasure, but it becomes enforceable in May 2027 under the phased rollout of the DPDP Rules 2025. Today you rely on Bharat Taxi's own privacy policy, which already offers deletion within seven days. A written request puts the date on record either way.
